Do you offer in person sessions? At this time, all sessions are conducted online through Zoom. The beginning of the SARS2 pandemic forced a shift out of my usual way of meeting in person. It also served as a beautiful reminder when we move (or are forced) out of our comfort zones and into unfamiliarity, we have an opportunity to expand and grow.

What type of therapy do you practice?I am a mindfulness-based experiential psychotherapist focused first and foremost on helping clients regulate their nervous system. A profound shift toward empowerment occurs when clients learn a new way of being with their emotions instead of being controlled by them and this begins with the nervous system. And I incorporate Core Self Reclamation Therapy and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy along with Compassionate Inquiry to help clients raise their awareness to how their thoughts and emotions are correlated. Once we gain this awareness, we are better able to harness our thoughts and identify and honor our emotions with compassion. Furthermore, I hold a boldly compassionate presence that allows for clients to identify and illuminate the parts of themselves that feel shame or have been hidden, even from their own awareness. Targeting the core causes that keep clients living in states of shame, anxiety and depression leads to a decrease of these symptoms and the emergence of a more authentic way of moving through life. My approach is not a return to status quo but a paradigm shift at the deepest level. A reclamation of the authentic self you were always meant to be.

How is your approach different than traditional therapy? There are many different therapeutic approaches to help people feel better. It is important to find one that resonates with the work you are looking to do. My accelerated, deep healing approach does more than simply relieve clients of their symptoms of shame, anxiety and depression. I aim to help clients learn to regulate their nervous system and update their ways of coping that offer more than symptom relief. Clients will become more attuned to the emotions within their body and the wisdom that it holds, freeing them to live a life connected to more vitality, freedom and joy.

How often do we meet?Healing happens within relationships. And a therapeutic relationship takes consistency to develop. As my approach is accelerated, my goal is to help clients get the results they are looking for as quickly as possible. Generally, I require weekly sessions that range between 50 to 60 minutes. I reserve scheduling bi-weekly sessions for when a client is on their way to full termination of treatment. And yet, as all clients have different needs, if you are interested in an alternative schedule, please reach out and we can explore further options.
-
Do you take insurance?I do reserve a portion of my practice in service to Medicare clients and will bill Medicare directly on their behalf. Otherwise, I require full payment at time of service. If behavioral health benefits are covered under your insurance plan, I will provide a superbill for you to submit for reimbursement.
-
How do I know if therapy is right for me?Therapy is right for you if you are looking to decrease symptoms of shame, anxiety or depression and move through life with more confidence, compassion and ease. My boldly compassionate approach targets the root causes of these symptoms. As we heal at the deepest level, we gain awareness and are free to feel more in control of our mind and emotions, even in the midst of difficult times.
-
What kind of clients do you work with? Many clients come to me whose usual ways of coping with life stressors are no longer working for them. They may have found some temporary symptom relief but continue to feel stuck, unable to thrive fully in their life, career or relationships. People who may have been to therapy in the past, yet continue to yearn for a deeper connection, either within themselves or with others.
-
What credentials do you have?Since obtaining my Master's degree in Clinical Social Work in 2006, I've narrowed my focus on healing trauma and reclaiming one's true self. I continue my growth and development with ongoing training and supervision in CSRT and Polyvagal Informed Therapy. I also have advanced training in AEDP, Mindfulness Self-Compassion and Compassionate Inquiry.

How quickly will I notice results? Each person defines "results" in different ways. However, results can come in the very first session. The hardest part for most is taking the initial action to reach out for help and knowing they are not alone on their healing path. You will notice results as you begin to learn how to regulate your nervous system, identify negative thought patterns and notice a reduction of symptoms of anxiety and depression. You will become more clear and confident. And begin to engage with yourself and others with more compassion and ease.

How do I know if we are a good fit?Choosing the right therapist is an important step toward your healing. I am not always the right fit for clients who initially reach out to me. However, the ones who are ready to embark on a journey of deep healing toward the emergence of their authentic selves, often find our work transformative. I am direct and compassionate and will guide you beneath the pain you present with, toward your authentic self that is always within you, whispering to be seen and heard.
